In-app messages are a little surprise pop-up that appears after a learner completes an action. Think of them as a friendly tap on the shoulder, a high-five, or a helpful hint delivered at just the right moment within the learning journey.
Embedded directly within an action, these messages are a powerful tool for connecting with your learners, reinforcing key concepts, and fostering a more engaging and supportive learning environment.
The Power of the Pop-Up: More Than Just a Message
In-app messages act as the "glue" that seamlessly connects different learning actions. They provide a versatile way to:

- Seamlessly guide learners from one topic to the next. When a learner completes a session, a personalized pop-up can create a smooth transition.
- For example: "Great job, {{name}}! Now that you've mastered that concept, let's see how it applies to the bigger picture in our next lesson."
- Share Fun Facts 🧐
- Sprinkle in moments of delight and discovery to enrich the learning experience. After a learner completes an action, you can present a surprising tidbit related to the subject.
- For instance: "Did you know? Millennial leaders are more likely to favor flatter organizational structures and continuous feedback, moving away from traditional top-down hierarchies."
- Encourage and Motivate 🙌
- Provide a virtual pat on the back to keep learners moving forward. These messages are perfect for reinforcing progress and building confidence at key points in their journey.
- A well-timed message like, "{{name}}, you're 70% of the way there! Keep up the great momentum!" can provide the perfect boost to see them through to completion.
- Deliver Surprise Rewards 🎁
- Go beyond simple congratulations by embedding tangible rewards directly into the learning experience. This transforms a milestone into a memorable event.
- For example, you can configure a message to say: "Congratulations! You've unlocked a special reward. Take a screenshot of this message and show it to your manager to redeem a $10 voucher!"
How To Set Up In-App Messages
- Access your program in Creator mode.
- Click the action where you want to embed your in-app message. (Note: The message will trigger immediately after the learner completes this action!)
- Click Action Settings in the top left corner of the action.
- Click Add In-Action Rewards.
- Click Add In-App Message.
- Craft your in-app message.
- Toggle Show Multiple Times to choose whether the in-app message should appear only once for the learner or every time they complete the action.
- You can change the background of your in-app message by deleting the default image and uploading your own.
- Once done, click Save.
- An In-App label will appear on the action to show that an in-app message is embedded.
- Your in-app message will be triggered for learners after they complete the action!
- To delete, access your in-app message again and click Remove.
