You are now well-equipped with the core strategies and techniques to build great microlearning experiences. But before we wrap up the building process, we have to ask one very important question: How do you know if any of it actually worked? 🤔
In this article, we are going to look at why measuring your program's impact is so crucial—and exactly how to do it!
Why Measure Impact?
Imagine spending weeks cooking a massive feast, serving it to your guests, and then leaving the room before they take a single bite. You wouldn't know if the soup was too salty or if the dessert was a hit. 🤔
Creating a learning experience without measuring its impact is exactly the same!
It is incredibly easy to assume your content is perfect simply because you spent a lot of time on it. But the truth is, learning design is an iterative process. Measuring impact allows you to:
🔍 Identify blind spots: Discover which sessions are confusing or taking too long.
📈 Prove ROI (Return on Investment): Show your stakeholders that the program was well-received and effective.
🚀 Improve future programs: Learn what your audience loves so you can do more of it next time!
Feedback isn't a critique of your worth as a Curator; it is the ultimate tool for upgrading your skills. 👍
"It’s an excellent baseline metric for our onboarding, Arthur. We asked him to hit the ground running, and he left an indelible impression!"
The Quick Pulse Check: Using Star Ratings
When you want to gather feedback quickly without slowing the learner down, the Star Rating feature is your best friend.
Everyone is familiar with star ratings—we use them for Uber rides, restaurant reviews, and online shopping. By dropping Star Ratings into your program, you are using a universally understood, frictionless tool to capture immediate sentiment in the flow of learning.
Great ways to use Star Ratings:
🗂️ Resource Evaluation: Just shared a 3-page PDF guide or a new job aid? Follow it up with: "Out of 5 stars, how helpful was this resource?"
⭐️ Session Rating: Place a star rating at the end of a session to see if learners found the material easy to digest.

💡 Pro-Tip: A 5-star rating tells you they loved it, but a 2-star rating doesn't tell you why they hated it. Pair a Star Rating Action with an optional Q&A action after it: "Tell us why you gave that score!"
Creating Dedicated Feedback Sessions
While sprinkling quick star ratings throughout the program is helpful, you also need to carve out intentional space for deeper reflection.
Don't just tack a feedback question onto the end of a random lesson about company policy. Instead, create a dedicated feedback session. Usually placed at the very end of a Program, this session acts as a formal debrief. Give it a clear title like "We Want to Hear From You!" or "Course Feedback."
What to include in a feedback session:
A welcoming text action: Remind them that their honesty helps improve the program for the next group of learners.
An overall Star Rating: Rate the complete program.
-
Open-Ended Q&A Actions: Ask specific questions like:
"What was the most valuable thing you learned in this module?"
"Was there anything that felt confusing or missing?"
"How can we make this program better?"
Building the Feedback Loop
The biggest mistake Curators make is treating feedback as an afterthought—something that only happens on the very last page of a 30-day program. By the time the learner gets there, they have forgotten what happened in Week 1!
To truly measure impact, you need to build a feedback loop into the DNA of your program.
Check in early: Add a mini-feedback session at the end of the very first module. Catch issues early before the learner loses motivation.
Make it a habit: If your program is spread out over several weeks, include a quick "End of Week Pulse Check" session every Friday.
Acknowledge the loop: If you are running a live cohort, jump into the Group Board or use your program's announcement feature to say, "Hey everyone, we saw your feedback from Module 1 that the video was a bit too fast. We've added a helpful summary sheet to the next session!" When learners see that their feedback actually shapes the experience, their engagement skyrockets.
Next up, we will look at how to review, refine, and test your program to ensure a flawless experience before you hit publish and make it live to your learners.
